Volunteer Opportunities

“Volunteers and their commitment to EBLO’s mission is what insures our success"
José Ruíz, Founder 1950-2006

Volunteers are the foundation of the success of EBLO.  Historically speaking EBLO relied on volunteers solely for the first 20 years.  Today there are volunteers involved in all of our programs and without them we would never be able to serve the number of children that are enrolled in the programs.

Volunteers impact our capacity to serve the Hispanic Community in every area of operation. Each week, students from several local colleges give their Saturday mornings to provide mentoring and tutoring for the students of “Escuela Sabatina”.  In the after school hours each weekday student from local high schools assist the students in three Baltimore City Public Schools with homework and enrichment activities.

Community volunteers have contributed many hours to beautifying the park like back yard of our home at 606 S. Ann St.  Their efforts are appreciated by the families and children who utilize the space for recreation and relaxation.

For many, their summer plans are not complete until they have scheduled their time to assist at LatinoFest.  The volunteer family of EBLO is really at its best during this two day event that challenges them to make “having fun” look like “work”.  Volunteers have two other chances to assist at festivals as both LatinoFest Baltimore County and La Plaza Hispana need the tremendous energy that volunteers bring to create the success of these events.

EBLO encourages all interested to come and share their talents and time with Baltimore’s Hispanic Community’s most precious resource:  Its’ youth and families.
